ProKarelia is an independent citizen movement. ProKarelia aims at returning the Finnish Karelia, Petsamo and Salla territories as well as some islands in the Gulf of Finland, which were ceded to the Soviet Union as a result of the Second World War, back to the context of Finland and the EU. (See the map). Simultaneously, ProKarelia supports the maintaining and promoting of Karelian culture. We call this mission the Karelia issue. Vision and Manifesto ProKarelia has a vision: Karelia, as a part of the EU and Finland, will strengthen genuine neighbourly terms. This will contribute to the development and prosperity in the Eastern parts of Finland and in the Southwest parts of Russia, and thus humanitarian catastrophe in Karelia will be avoided. Acquaint yourself with the reformation plan and on the effects of the returning process. Participate in our vision by filling out the Manifesto form below, and your name will be added to the Supporter list. It will be an important expression of opinion for supporting the returning process. We will not publish your E-mail address on the Supporter list. Line of action Returning of the ceded territories is furthered by all peaceful means. The returning process should proceed in cooperation with the Russian Federation taking the interests of both sides into consideration. Experts in ad hoc workshops will carry out the research and development work relating to the returning process. Process is based on objective information services. Internet will be used as the main medium in the first phase. Information activities shall cover those countries, which have participated in the process of bringing out the Karelia issue. This will be realised in the form of bulletins, which will be sent to media representatives and political decision-makers in various countries.
